Can My Friends See What I Post In A Public Group On Facebook

If I comment/make posts on Facebook groups do my Facebook friends see them in the newsfeed?

I've practically made my Facebook account gone by deleting my pictures, profile pictures, I've also stopped writing statuses & I don't like or comment on my friends post anymore.

I've only reason I haven't properly deleted my account is for university unit groups as I study online & for vegan local groups so I do comment on those only but I wonder if people in my friends list will see that? I want to appear non active on there to others.

If the groups you are active in are private only group members will see it. If the groups are open there is a chance they will appear on your friends timelines.

This. My irl friend who I see all the time but never interact with on FB sees my comments on random articles and mentions it.

Private and closed group comments/posts don't show up unless your friends are also group members. Public groups allow any of your comments to be seen by anyone on Facebook - and appear in their newsfeed. I am CONSTANTLY using the "hide all" button on groups my friends join that are public.

If the groups are closed or private your friends won't see them unless they are members. If they are members and you make a post in the group they may get an actual notification that you have posted in the group. Comments could show up on their wall but that has to do with the algorithm that takes into account how much you interact with that friend, so if your only activity is the occasional comment in a group, the odds of them seeing it via their wall is Slim. I only see comments on other people's posts from Friends that I regularly interact with on the site. otherwise it is pretty limited to only posts and shares.

Last time I was there, group activities were not shared in friends' feeds. But things might've changed

You should hide what groups you belong to in privacy settings. I was pretty annoyed to see one of my friends commenting in a group i belonged to. Theres no way he would be in that group without having 1st looked through my groups. Pretty creepy. I sometimes even check if any of my friends are members of groups now.
